Viomycin sulfate hydrate is a potent antibiotic against Mycobacteria. Viomycin sulfate hydrate rapidly inhibits polypeptide chain elongation when added to purified endogenous Escherichia coli polysomes actively engaged in polypeptide synthesis[1][2].
