2,3-Dimethylfuran represents a methyl-substituted furan derivative. 2,3-Dimethylfuran can be synthesized via cyclization of (Z) -3-methylpent-2-en-4-yn-1-ol and finds application in the synthesis of 2,9-dioxabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane.
