Background
CNDP1 (Carnosine dipeptidase 1) belongs to the M20 metalloprotease family and is expressed in the adult nervous central system. It catalyzes preferential hydrolysis of the beta-Ala-|-His dipeptide (carnosine), and also anserine, Xaa-|-His dipeptides and other dipeptides including homocarnosine.
