Antibacterial agent 116 is a benzophenone-salicylanilide hybrid that potently inhibits bacterial peptidoglycan synthesis. It serves as a photoaffinity probe to specifically label and inhibit Acinetobacter baumannii PBP1b, disrupting cell wall assembly. This tool compound is used in mechanistic studies of peptidoglycan biosynthesis and for exploring novel antibacterial strategies in vitro.
