α-Cyperone is a bioactive small molecule that inhibits S. aureus Hla production and protects lung cells. It suppresses LPS-induced COX-2 and IL-6 expression, reducing PGE2 and inflammation. Furthermore, it disrupts pathogenic actin polymerization by downregulating Nck-2, Cdc42, and Rac1, applicable in infectious disease and immunology research.
