Anti-NMDAR Antibody (Human) ELISA Kit
N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor is a glutamate-gated cation channel present in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. NMDAR plays a critical role in the development of the central nervous system, helps generate rhythms for breathing and locomotion, and regulates processes involved in learning, memory, and neuroplasticity. The receptor is activated when two different agonists bind to it: glutamate and glycine. Abnormal functions or altered functions of NMDAR lead to several disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, schizophrenia, and Huntington’s disease. Autoantibodies generated against the NMDA receptor result in an autoimmune condition called Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. BioVision’s Anti-NMDAR antibody (Human) ELISA kit quantitatively measures Anti-NMDAR antibodies in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antigen are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antigen and then washed with Wash Buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added to the plate, and post-incubation any unattached conjugates are washed off by Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of Anti-NMDAR antibodies in the sample or standard.
