1M PIPES Buffer Solution, pH 8

PIPES (Piperazine-N,N'-bis(2-ethanesulfonic acid)) is frequently used as a buffering agent in biochemistry. PIPES has been noted to reduce lipid loss when buffering glutaraldehyde histology in plant and animal tissues. It also has an insignificant capacity to bind divalent ions. PIPES is suitable for cell culture work as the pKa is close to the physiological pH.
