The LIMK1 protein is an important serine/threonine protein kinase that controls actin dynamics downstream of Rho GTPases. Activation of ROCK1, PAK1, and PAK4 phosphorylates LIMK1, allowing it to phosphorylate and inhibit actin depolymerizing factors, including cofilin-1/CFL1 and destrin/DSTN.
