Insulin decreases blood glucose concentration. It increases cell permeability to monosaccharides, amino acids and fatty acids. It accelerates glycolysis, the pentose phosphate cycle, and glycogen synthesis in liver.

Specificity

Both antibodies recognize human insulin and cross-react with human proinsulin, bovine insulin, and porcine insulin. 20801 reacts with C-terminal pentapeptide of insulin b-chain. 20803 reacts with a different antigenic determinant.
