5-(and 6)-Carboxy-2′,7′- dichlorofluorescein diacetate

Membrane-permeable 5-(and-6)-Carboxy-2′,7′-dichlorofluorescein diacetate can be fed into cells through incubation. By intracellular esterases, the diacetate is easily degraded to 5-(and-6)-carboxy-2′,7′-fluorescein.
