Target Background

Hsp47 is a chaperone protein and member of the superfamily of serine proteinase inhibitors. Also known as SERPINH1, it is a stress protein localized in the endoplasmic reticulum and plays an active role in intracellular folding, assembly, and secretion of pro- collagens. Expression of Hsp47 is increased at sites of fibrotic lesions.
