PRTN3 is a serine protease that broadly targets elastin, fibronectin, laminin, vitronectin, and collagen types I, III, and IV in vitro, playing a crucial role in extracellular matrix degradation. It modulates endothelial cell barrier function by cleaving and activating the receptor F2RL1/PAR-2 and enhances vascular integrity during neutrophil transendothelial migration.
