MMP-2 protein is a ubiquitous metalloprotease that contributes to vasculature remodeling, angiogenesis, tissue repair, tumor invasion, inflammation, and atherosclerotic plaque rupture. In addition to extracellular matrix degradation, it also targets non-matrix proteins and promotes vasoconstriction.
