Human Parathyroid Hormone Recombinant
Recombinant Human PTH-84 is a disulfide-linked homodimeric protein consisting of 84 amino acid residues, and migrates as an approximately 9 kDa under reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE. Optimized DNA sequence encoding Human PTH mature chain was expressed inE. coli.

Background
Parathyroid hormone is a circulating hormone that acts as the central regulator of calcium metabolism by directly targeting bone, kidney, and intestine. The classical concept of PTH action is that it regulates serum calcium levels by stimulating bone resorption, however, intermittent administration of PTH selectively stimulates bone formation. It is now known that PTH binds to its receptor PTH1R, and activates the G protein α subunits.Besides PKA and PKC activation, PTH also regulates MAPKs including p42/p44 ERKs, p38, and c-Jun N-terminal kinase subtypes.

Lyophilized protein
Reconstitution
Reconstitute at 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in distilled water. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers. To maximize product collection from vial surface, vortex briefly and then spin down to recollect the liquid.
Shipping Conditions
Gel Packs or Dry Ice
Storage Conditions
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt when stored at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store in working aliquots at +4°C for up to one month, or at -20°C for up to six months, in the presence of a carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
