Product Specifications
Background
Ash2L (Absent, small or homeotic-like protein), is a subunit of histone H3K4 lysine methyltransferase complex, such as the MLL1 (mixed lineage leukemia 1) and MLL3 complex. It belongs to the trithorax family of proteins and regulates cell proliferation and cell fate. For instance, it is critical to regulate the transition from pluripotency to a differentiated cell via its effects on pluripotency genes. This protein has been linked to cancer, as it interacts with MYC and RAS (rat sarcoma virus), and it is overexpressed in several solid tumors and leukemia cell lines. Trying to understand the role of this protein and how to best use its properties to develop new therapeutics is an exciting and ongoing field of research.
