Background
GITRL (Human glucocorticoid-induced TNF-related ligand), also known as CD357, AITRL, TNLG2A, and tumor necrosis factor (ligand) superfamily, member 18 (TNFSF18), is a cytokine that binds to GITR (or TNFRSF18) . It is mainly expressed on B cells, dendritic cells (DSc), macrophages and endothelial cells. GITRL engages with the GITR receptor as a co-stimulatory signal to promote adaptive and innate immune responses. This interaction is linked to cancer, inflammation and autoimmune diseases, making it a promising drug target candidate for the treatment of these disorders.
