Claudin 5 Antibody
Claudin-5, also known as BEC1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CLDN5 gene. By use of yeast artificial chromosomes, Claudin-5 is localized between polymorphic markers D22S944 and D22S941 on chromosome 22q11, both of which are deleted in more than 80% of VCFS patients. This gene encodes a member of the claudin family. Family members are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands. Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets. Additionally, it plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space.
