AGO1 (N1) Antibody, Rabbit Polyclonal
Rabbit polyclonal to AGO1.Argonaute1 (AGO1) is also known as Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2C 1 (EIF2C1), which is amember of the Argonaute family of proteins that play a role in RNA interference. AGO1 is highly basic, and contains a PAZ domain and a PIWI domain. It may interact with dicer1 and play a role in shortinterfering-RNA-mediated gene silencing. AGO1 binds to short RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs) or short interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and represses the translation of mRNAs complementary to them.AGO1 lacks endonuclease activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNAs. AGO1 is alsorequired for transcriptional gene silencing (TGS) of promoter regions which are complementary tobound short antigene RNAs
