Human CellExp™ PDGF-CC, Human Recombinant
PDGF-CC is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) family, which was originally identified as a serum growth factor for fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells and glia cells. The PDGF family consists of proteins derived from four genes (PDGF-A, -B, -C, and -D) that form four disulfide-linked homodimers (PDGF-AA, -BB, -CC, and -DD) and one heterodimer (PDGF-AB). These proteins regulate diverse cellular functions by binding to and inducing the homo- or hetero-dimerization of two receptor tyrosine kinases (PDGF R alpha and R beta). PDGF-CC is expressed in multiple embryonic and adult cell types and tissues. PDGF-CC is involved in pathogenesis of neurologic diseases, cancer and fibrosis. The PDGF-CC ligand has also been shown to be involved in tumor growth by paracrine signaling through PDGFRα in malignant melanoma and cervical carcinoma.
