MUC5AC Antibody
Mouse monoclonal antibody to MUC5AC, this monoclonal antibody (MAb) recognizes the peptide core of gastric mucin M1 (identified as MUC5AC, ~1,000 kDa) . The epitope is sensitive to β‐mercaptoethanol and protease digestion, but resistant to periodate treatment. The antibody reacts with normal gastric epithelium throughout the human gastrointestinal tract, as well as with precancerous and cancerous colon tissues; however, it does not stain normal adult colonic mucosa. Positive reactivity is also observed in fetal colonic mucosa. The reappearance of gastric mucin immunoreactivity during colorectal carcinogenesis corresponds to the re‐expression of the peptide epitope characteristic of gastric (or fetal colonic) mucins.
