Sulfometuron-methyl is a herbicide and also a powerful inhibitor of the enzyme acetolactate synthase (ALS) . It exhibits antibacterial and antifungal activities, capable of inhibiting the activity of Salmonella. typhimurium ALS II and Escherichia. coli ALS III[1].
