α-Bungarotoxin Conjugated Dye 555

In tissue slices, nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at neuromuscular junctions can be stained using labeled α-bungarotoxin conjugates. The polypeptide snake toxin known as alpha-bungarotoxin has a strong affinity for the neuromuscular junction's nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Additionally, alpha-bungarotoxin can be used to identify recombinant proteins that express the alpha-bungarotoxin binding site (BBS) epitope tag or to detect GABA A receptor subtypes in living cells.
