Specificity

These antibodies recognize E. coli s O2a/2b, O7, O11, O18, O44, O75, O112, and O125. Not all E. coli O s have been tested. These antibodies do not cross- react with Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, or Serratia marcescens.

Target Background

Escherichia coli are gram-negative bacteria commonly found in the lower intestine of warm- blooded animals. Most E. coli s are harmless normal flora but can cause urinary tract infections if they enter the urinary tract. Some s can cause severe food poisoning.
