Product Specifications
Gene Name
[HbA1c]
NCBI Gene ID
3043
Reactivity
Human
Storage Conditions
Store at 4 °C for up to 3 months. For longer storage, aliquot and store at -20 °C.
Specificity
This antibody binds human hemoglobin glycated at the N-terminal valine of the hemoglobin beta chain and does not cross react with non-glycated hemoglobin. Glycated hemoglobin is formed by the conjugation of a hexose sugar to the beta-chain of hemoglobin. Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels are used as an indicator of average plasma glucose concentration in diabetic patients. Levels of more than 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) are used as a criterion for the identification of diabetes. Higher levels of HbA1c are also associated with cardiovascular disease.
