Specificity

This antibody binds human DNA mismatch repair protein MSH6. MSH6 forms a heterodimer with MSH2 to make the human MutSalpha mismatch repair complex and initiates DNA repair. The DNA mismatch repair system (MMR) is composed of enzyme molecules that specifically repair DNA base mismatches. Defects in expression of MSH6 are often associated with hereditary non-polypatopathic colorectal cancer (HNPCC).
