Anti-Cytokeratin 18 [HH156]

This antibody is specific for extracellular domain of the human cytokeratin 18 containing amino acids 'LEDGEDFNLGDALD'. Cytokeratins are intermediate filaments found in the intracytoplasmic cytoskeleton of epithelial tissue. Cytokeratin 18 is widely expressed in human monolayer epithelial tissues, and generally appears in pairs with CK8. CK18 is a serum marker for a variety of tumor identify, as well as a serum marker for liver injury. It is involved in the uptake of thrombin-antithrombin complexes by hepatic cells. When phosphorylated, it plays a role in filament reorganization. It is also involved in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane. Together with KRT8, is involved in interleukin-6 (IL-6)-mediated barrier protection.
