SIRT3 is an NAD-dependent protein deacetylase that dynamically affects the acetylation of mitochondrial target proteins, such as ACSS1, IDH, GDH, SOD2, PDHA1, LCAD, SDHA, and the ATP synthase subunit ATP5PO. Its deacetylation activity regulates cellular energy metabolism and fine-tunes tissue-specific ATP levels.
