GDF-15 (Human) ELISA Kit
Growth Differentiation Factor 15 (GDF-15), also known as Macrophage Inhibitory Cytokine-1 (MIC-1), belongs to the superfamily of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β). During normal conditions, GDF-15 is expressed at low levels in organs such as kidney, stomach, bladder, and placenta. Under stress conditions, the expression is upregulated by various stress-related proteins such as IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-2 in a tissue-specific manner. Elevated expressions are observed in diseased states such as cancer, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, and kidney disease. Hence, GDF-15 serves as an efficient biomarker for cancer and cardiovascular disease. BioVision’s GDF-15 (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the amount of GDF-15 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and subsequently washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added, and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the amount of GDF-15 in the sample or standard.
