The Caspase 1 (Phospho-Ser376) Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor Caspase 1 (Phospho-Ser376) protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of Caspase 1 (Phospho-Ser376) in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on Caspase 1 (Phospho-Ser376) .

Function

Thiol protease that cleaves IL-1 beta between an Asp and an Ala, releasing the mature cytokine which is involved in a variety of inflammatory processes. Important for defense against pathogens. Cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins (SREBPs) . Can also promote apoptosis. Upon inflammasome activation, during DNA virus infection but not RNA virus challenge, controls antiviral immunity through the cleavage of MB21D1/cGAS, rendering it inactive (PubMed:28314590) .
