The nNOS (Phospho-Ser852) Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor nNOS (Phospho-Ser852) protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of nNOS (Phospho-Ser852) in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on nNOS (Phospho-Ser852) .

Tissue Specificity

Isoform 1 is ubiquitously expressed: detected in skeletal muscle and brain, also in testis, lung and kidney, and at low levels in heart, adrenal gland and retina. Not detected in the platelets. Isoform 3 is expressed only in testis. Isoform 4 is detected in testis, skeletal muscle, lung, and kidney, at low levels in the brain, but not in the heart and adrenal gland.

Function

Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In the brain and peripheral nervous system, NO displays many properties of a neurotransmitter.
