The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of CD147 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on CD147.

Plays pivotal roles in spermatogenesis, embryo implantation, neural network formation and tumor progression. Stimulates adjacent fibroblasts to produce matrix metalloproteinases (MMPS) . Seems to be a receptor for oligomannosidic glycans. In vitro, promotes outgrowth of astrocytic processes.
