The APAF-1-ALT Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor APAF-1-ALT protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of APAF-1-ALT in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on APAF-1-ALT.

Function
Oligomeric Apaf-1 mediates the cytochrome c-dependent autocatalytic activation of pro-caspase-9 (Apaf-3), leading to the activation of caspase-3 and apoptosis. This activation requires ATP. Isoform 6 is less effective in inducing apoptosis.
