The LMCD1 protein is a transcriptional cofactor that regulates GATA6 by blocking its DNA binding, thereby inhibiting transcriptional activation in lung and heart tissues. It inhibits GATA6-mediated transactivation of tissue-specific promoters, which is critical for developmental processes.
