HMGA2 (Human) ELISA Kit
High-mobility group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2) is a non-histone chromatin-associated protein that belongs to the high-mobility group of proteins. As an architectural transcription factor, this protein binds to the minor groove of DNA that has AT-rich sequences and can induce changes in the chromatin structure. In addition to binding DNA and remodeling chromatin, HMGA2 can directly bind to transcription factors and stabilize protein-protein and protein-DNA interactions via the formation of enhanceosome and regulate transcription activity of several genes. HMGA2 also regulates a variety of biological processes such as the development of the embryo, cell differentiation, DNA repair, senescence, and cell cycle progression. HMGA2 is widely expressed in fetal and embryonic tissues whereas the expression in adult tissues is almost negligible. However, HMGA2 is observed to be re-expressed in a variety of human malignancies, thus indicating its role in tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Overexpression of HMGA2 is associated with cancer metastasis and poor prognosis, thus indicating that it could be a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for cancer. BioVision’s HMGA2 (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich principle to quantitatively measure the concentration of HMGA2 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is directly proportional to the concentration of HMGA2 in the sample or standard.
