Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) is a member of the Hedgehog (Hh) family of highly conserved proteins which are widely represented throughout the animal kingdom. Sonic Hedgehog plays a role in cell growth, cell specialization, and the normal shaping (patterning) of the body.
