Collagen Type II (BSA & Azide Free)

May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes chicken Type II Collagen. Species Crossreactivity: human, mouse, salamander. Reacts with the TCA fragment of lathyritic type II collagen after digestion with mammalian collagenase. It also reacts with pepsin-digested type II collagen. Immunoblotting of CNBr peptides of collagen II shows that this reacts with CB 11 fragment which is the site of immunogenic and arthritogenic epitopes along the intact type II molecule. In Western Blot (but not ELISA), this recognizes a1(II) as well as a3(XI) chain both of which have identical primary structure.
