CD31 (PECAM-1, Platelet gpIIa Molecule, Endothelial Cell Marker)
Product Specifications
Gene Name
[CD31]
NCBI Gene ID
5175
Reactivity
Human
Storage Conditions
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Specificity
Recognizes human endothelial cells in normal tissues and in benign and malignant proliferations 100kD (endothelial cells) and 130kD (platelets). In cryostat sections and blood smears the antibody also stains megakaryocytes, platelets and occasionally plasma cells. It reacts weakly with mantle zone B cells, peripheral T cells, and neutrophils. Antibody to CD31 is of value in the study of benign and malignant vascular tumors. Staining for CD31 has also been used to measure angiogenesis, which reportedly predicts tumor recurrence. Does not react with rat or porcine.
