Specificity

Recognizes intact (250kD) and collagenase digested (150kD) tissue Type VII collagen. It reacts with the basement membrane zone of stratified squamous epithelia. Does not crossreact with types I, II, III, IV, V collagens, lamins and fibronectin. Epitope: Located on non-helical (non-collagenous) C-terminal region of collagen VII and is resistant to collagenase, trypsin, pronase, neuraminidase, chondroitinase, and hyaluronidase However, it is lost by digestion of collagen VII with pepsin. Species Crossreactivity: Human, marmoset, monkey, bovine, sheep, goat, porcine and guinea pig.
