Fingolimod (FTY720 Hydrochloride)
S1P Receptor Modulator
Product Specifications
Background
FTY720 is a potent sphingosine 1-phosphate receptors (S1P) agonist once it is phosphorylated by sphingosine kinase. This causes lymphocytes to be sequestered in lymph nodes, which also makes FTY720 an immune modulating drug for multiple sclerosis. It has been shown to stimulate neuronal gene expression, axonal growth and regeneration (3). And recently FTY720 has also been shown to reduce α-Synuclein pathology in parkinsonian GM2+/- Mice (4).
