PP1 is a potent and selective Src family protein tyrosine kinase inhibitor. This has a range of effects and implications. Structural studies have revealed that PP1 binds to the ATP-binding site in tyrosine kinases and Ser/Thr kinases. PP1 displays > 8000-fold selectivity over ZAP-70 and JAK2.
