Background

LRP1 (Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor-Related Protein 1) is a multifunctional endocytic receptor involved in lipid metabolism, protease clearance, and cell signaling. In the brain, LRP1 regulates amyloid-beta clearance, synaptic plasticity, and blood-brain barrier integrity. Dysregulation of LRP1 is associated with Alzheimer’s disease, where impaired Aβ clearance contributes to plaque accumulation and neurotoxicity.
