The GABA A receptor alpha 1 subunit (GABRA1) is a critical component of the GABA A receptor complex, a family of fast-acting ligand-gated ion channels that mediate the majority of rapid inhibitory neurotransmission in the central nervous system. These receptors are pentameric structures composed of various subunits, with the alpha 1 subunit being the most abundantly expressed in the adult brain. GABRA1 plays a central role in maintaining synaptic inhibition, regulating neuronal excitability, and shaping network oscillations essential for cognitive and behavioral functions. 1 µg/ml of SMC-346 was sufficient for detection of alpha1 GABA receptor in 10 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
