CENP-A Antibody, Clone 5A7-2E11: APC

Mouse Anti-Human CENP-A Monoclonal IgG1

Product Specifications

Background

CENPA is a histone H3 variant that defines centromeric chromatin and is essential for kinetochore assembly and chromosome segregation. It replaces canonical H3 in centromeric nucleosomes and recruits key centromere proteins such as CENP-C. While primarily studied in mitotic cells, emerging research suggests that CENPA may also play roles in post-mitotic neurons by maintaining chromatin architecture and genome stability. Disruption of centromeric integrity and epigenetic regulation has been linked to neuronal aging and neurodegenerative diseases. CENPA’s role in chromatin dynamics and nuclear organization positions it as a potential biomarker for genomic instability in neurodegeneration.
