LAMP2 (Lysosome-Associated Membrane Protein 2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein essential for lysosomal function and autophagy. LAMP2 is expressed in lysosomes, late endosomes, and at the plasma membrane, where it may mediate cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. This contributes to neuronal death in disorders such as Danon disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
