It is also involved in the maintenance of chromatin structure, the regulation of gene expression, and the stress response. Ubiquitin is synthesized as a precursor protein consisting of either polyubiquitin chains or a single ubiquitin moiety fused to an unrelated protein. UBA52 encodes a fusion protein consisting of ubiquitin at the N terminus and ribosomal protein L40 at the C terminus, a C-terminal extension protein (CEP) . Multiple processed pseudogenes derived from this gene are present in the genome.

Human Ubiquitin-60S ribosomal protein L40 (UBA52) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human UBA52. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human UBA52 and analogues was observed.

This Human Ubiquitin-60S ribosomal protein L40 (UBA52) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate UBA52 in samples. An antibody specific for UBA52 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyUBA52 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for UBA52 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of UBA52 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
