MYT1L encodes a member of the zinc finger superfamily of transcription factors. T Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein belongs to a novel class of cystein-cystein-histidine-cystein zinc finger proteins that function in the developing mammalian central nervous system. Forced expression of this gene in combination with the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor NeuroD1 and the transcription factors POU class 3 homeobox 2 and achaete-scute family basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor 1 can convert fetal and postnatal human fibroblasts into induced neuronal cells, which are able to generate action potentials. Mutations in MYT1L have been associated with autosomal mental retardation-39 and autism spectrum disorder. Alternative splicing results in multiple variants.

Human Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein (MYT1L) ELISA Kit has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of Human MYT1L. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human MYT1L and analogues was observed.

This Human Myelin transcription factor 1-like protein (MYT1L) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MYT1L in samples. An antibody specific for MYT1L has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMYT1L present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MYT1L is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MYT1L bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
