Rb (Acetyl-K873/K874) Polyclonal Antibody

The protein encoded by RB1 is a negative regulator of the cell cycle and was the first tumor suppressor gene found. The encoded protein also stabilizes constitutive heterochromatin to maintain the overall chromatin structure. The active, hypophosphorylated form of the protein binds transcription factor E2F1. Defects in RB1 are a cause of childhood cancer retinoblastoma (RB), bladder cancer, and osteogenic sarcoma. RB1 (RB Transcriptional Corepressor 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with RB1 include Retinoblastoma and Small Cell Cancer Of The Lung, Somatic. Among its related pathways are Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) and DNA Damage.

The antibody detects endogenous levels of Rb when Acetyl occurs at Lys873/874 (human), Lys866/867 (mouse) or Lys865/866 (rat), while it doesn't react with total protein.
