Catenin-β (phospho Ser552) Polyclonal Antibody

Catenin beta 1 encoded by CTNNB1 is part of a complex of proteins that constitute adherens junctions (AJs) . AJs are necessary for the creation and maintenance of epithelial cell layers by regulating cell growth and adhesion between cells. Catenin beta 1 also anchors the actin cytoskeleton and may be responsible for transmitting the contact inhibition signal that causes cells to stop dividing once the epithelial sheet is complete. Finally, catenin beta 1 binds to the product of the APC gene, which is mutated in adenomatous polyposis of the colon. Mutations in CTNNB1 are a cause of colorectal cancer (CRC), pilomatrixoma (PTR), medulloblastoma (MDB), and ovarian cancer. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for CTNNB1.

Stable for one year at -20°C from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

Optimal working dilutions should be determined experimentally by the investigator. Suggested starting dilutions are as follows: WB 1:500-1:2000; ELISA 1:40000; Not yet tested in other applications.
