Target Background

PDRG (p53 and DNA damage-regulated gene) is predominantly expressed in normal human testis but can be detected at lower levels in other organs. PDRG mRNA is upregulated after exposure of cells to UV radiation but is downregulated by tumor suppressor p53. Sequence analysis of PDRG promoter revealed the presence of an Oct-1 binding site as well as a p53 binding site. PDRG is a novel gene in that it is differentially regulated by p53 and UV radiation.
