Mito Flipper-TR 27 is a fluorescent probe for measuring membrane tension in living cells. Mito Flipper-TR 27 accumulates in mitochondria because the strong internal negative membrane potential drives the permanent hydrophobic triphenylphosphine cation across the inner membrane and prevents its release, thus enabling it to be used for tracking mitochondria[1].
